French caricaturists place themselves against Pegida - with rather clear
designs. Reason is a planned “funeral march” in Dresden. “We are disgusted”,
write the artists.
Hamburg - “Pegida, disappears!” - with a handbill and caricatures French and
French-speaking caricaturists placed themselves Pegida against the Islam-hostile
movement. They are indignant about the “funeral march” planned in Dresden, were
called it in a call of Sunday.
“We reject it that Pegida wants to take in the memory of our colleagues”, said a
Mitorganisator and a spokesman of the action of the German press agency. Because
of the attack on the French satire magazine “the Pegida organizers their
supporters requested Charlie Hebdo” with twelve dead to carry during the
demonstration on this Monday in Dresden black ribbon.
“We, the French and French-speaking draughtsmen, are frightened over the murder
of our friends. And we are disgusted that right forces try, these for their
purposes to instrumentalize”, are called it in the handbill. One of the
caricatures shows for instance an hyena and a carrion vulture, which want to
strike capital from the terrorist attack. The draughtsmen at the same time call
the Dresdens to cosmopolitanness and tolerance. “In this fight Dresden, like
Paris, is a symbolic city.”
For the first time there is to be a large Pegida demonstration on this Monday
also in Leipzig. After the terror attacks of Paris the city administration
issued however a disputed edition: The demonstrators may not show Mohammed
caricatures - around provocations to prevent.
