Chancellor Merkel: “The Islam belongs to Germany”

Angela Merkel sees the Islam as part of the German society. With the visit of the Turkish Prime Minister the chancellor the words of former Federal President Christian Wulff followed.

Berlin - Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) grants a firm place in the German society to the Islam. With a visit of the Turkish Ministerpräidenten Ahmet Davutoglu in the citizen of Berlin chancellorship she said: “Former Federal President Christian Wulff said: The Islam belongs to Germany. And that is like that. This opinion am I also.”

It is valid to do everything so that integration succeeds. Independently of the religion are all welcome, which would profess themselves to the German laws and of linguistic knowledge would have. “I am a Federal Chancellor of all Germans. That includes all, which live here permanently, also, all the same which origin and which origin they are”, said Merkel.

Merkel said, it gives in relation to the Islam still much unawareness and from there the necessity to look for the dialogue between the religions. It is grateful the fact that the Muslims would draw a dividing line in Germany and as means of conflict resolution clearly rejected force.

Also Davutoglu stressed the necessity to strengthen the dialogue between the religions. However must be proceeded also decided against Islamophobie in Germany, said the Turkish Prime Minister.
