US-veterans: Dishonest jubilation

Veterans Day in den USA: Ein Ständchen für die Veteranen

Meryl Streep carries a Poncho and is hoarse. “Valor”, intones of Americas of popular actress, “is a powerful word.” A word for “courageous acts, which shift us in reverence” - and the question would again and again raise: “From where does bravery come?”

Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson, Bruce Springsteen, Metallica, Eminem, the Black key: They sing often diagonally, but all the more patriotically, from the national anthem to Heavy Metal hymns. President Barack Obama greets by video from China, and Jamie Foxx spends the slogan: “There is no greater country in the world!” The quantity agrees roaring: The “USA! The USA! The USA!”

America loves itself its veterans - and. Straight one at veteran the Day: In Washington on Tuesday was sung, over many Main Streets marched multicolored military parades, millions put the hand on the heart, soldier were allowed into the cinema and at the airport first on board to go in vain, and even to Twitter saluted by Hashtag (#ThankaVet).

The purpose may not be analyzed thereby for a long time no more: US-military actions became patriotic end in itself, immune to skepticism, doubt, criticism. Those, which would drive them out, are actually often heroes - nevertheless appreciably at the same time also victims.

Also the Afghanistan campaign, a direct consequence of the 9/11-Anschläge, becomes ever more diffuse. Obama won the presidency with the oath to terminate this war - a promise, which it will only fulfill if the choice is decided around its follow-up. Meanwhile Afghanistan threatens for a long time again in chaos to sink to terror and bloodshed.

In the special hospitals the veteran administration (VA) the injured ones landed for many years on secret - feigned and - waiting lists. Some died, before they got a physician date. Obamacare improved the support, but want the republican victorious with the congressional elections the reform to cancel again.
