Preach course, fly Businesses

Kondensstreifen eines Flugzeuges: Die Flugfreude erklärt sich durch die gesellschaftliche Stellung von Grünen-Wählern.

Berlin - flies and environmental protection get along badly. According to the Federal Office for Environment Protection it gives to move itself no climaticmore harmful kind than the airplane. From voters of an ecology party like the Greens one could expect therefore that they used air traffic particularly economically.

Client of the survey is the Federal association of the German air traffic economy (BDL), which naturally no interest in a restriction of air traffic for environmental reasons has. Was accomplished the study of the renowned research group elections, which provides also the choice elections for the Second Channel of German Television.

The green flight joy at least partly explains itself by the social position of Green voters. Those are comparatively young, well trained and good earning. “All characteristics, which might positively be connected with a use of the airplane”, say Martin Kroh, who investigated the profile of Green voters at German Institut for economic research. Finally highly-qualified good goods go also more frequently on business trips, which constitute approximately 60 percent of German domestic traffic according to numbers of the airport federation ADP.

Also many business trips can certainly be settled by course - if the environment is really important. Besides the results put close that the well situated Greens with their aviation politics preach above all renouncement for others. Only scarcely half of the asked Green voters finds it good that today many humans can afford air passage. There was against it nearly three quarters of the asked ones on the average. It fits that the Greens demand for a long time to make flights for ecological reasons more expensive.

The BDL fit such results into the concept. In before four years the created lobby federation airlines and airports fight against their alleged disadvantage in the comparison to the foreign competition. The BDL argues also with the meaning of the industry for the national economy. Those is hardly denied however also by the Greens: The statement, an efficient air traffic net are important “for jobs and economy” signed 85 percent of their voters - just as many as in the total population.
