Burger King withdraws 89 branches from disputed franchise taker

Munich - after headlines over hygiene offences and bad conditions of work Burger King consequences pulls: The nearly Food chain quits to its largest franchise taker in Germany. Burger King has the contracts with the Yi-Ko-holding quit, which operates so far 89 branches with 3000 employees on Tuesday without notice, reported the “picture” - to newspaper. “After the hygiene scandal first much improved, but for the summer was there repeats offences against the agreements”, said the Germany boss of the nearly Food chain, Andreas Bork, the newspaper.

In co-operation with Yi-Ko one tried to improve and the adherence to the standards guarantee the conditions of work, communicated Burger King. One stated however that Yi-Ko offended again against the met agreements. “This contained among other things the fact that the former managing director of the Yi-Ko continual exerted influence on the daily business that repetitive against work contracts became to offend and that the layers of the restaurants were understaffed”, it were said.

“The notice represents for us only the last step”, says Burger King manager Andreas Bork. How it continues with the 89 locations and for the 3000 employees, is not certain. “We will do everything for it, will receive if possible all restaurants and the existing jobs to”, explained Bork.
