German cities only little bicycle-friendly

Bad cycle tracks, few bicycle stands, too much danger of accident: The conditions for cyclists are not good in the twelve largest German cities according to a test.

Of Germany of twelve largest cities are only little bicycle friendly. At the conclusion the General German Automobile Association comes, after it had tested the conditions for cyclists. Most badly Dresden and Dortmund cut, to the two cities off gave the testers the note “below average”. Also the other ten tested cities did not cut off well, them received the note “on the average”. Best still Munich and Stuttgart were evaluated.

The General german automobile association testers criticized the accident frequency for cyclists, to narrow cycle tracks and too few or badly equipped parking areas. The number of the bicycle accidents altogether rose 2013 to over 71.000. Here fast remedy is necessary – and feasiblly. In each city the General German Automobile Association testers drove off ten routes with on the average 28 kilometers of length. Besides they evaluated accident statistics. Cities with more than 500,000 inhabitants were selected.
